Jet2 Baggage Policy 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Jet2 has one of the more generous baggage policies of any UK airline. Every passenger gets a full-size 10kg cabin bag and a small under-seat bag included in the fare, and Jet2holidays packages add 22kg of hold luggage on top. The catch is that if you get the sizes or weights wrong, the fees add up quickly. Here's everything you need to know about Jet2's baggage policy for 2026.

At Aerolite, we design cabin bags and suitcases to the exact maximum sizes allowed by the UK's biggest airlines, and Jet2 is one of the most popular. This guide covers Jet2's hand luggage and hold baggage allowances, size and weight limits, extra baggage fees and our best packing tips, plus the Aerolite bags that make the most of every centimetre.

01 — Jet2 Baggage Allowance 2026 at a Glance

Here's a quick summary of what you can take on a Jet2 flight in 2026:

Bag Type Maximum Size Maximum Weight Included?
Cabin bag 56×45×25 cm (incl. wheels & handles) 10kg ✅ Free on every fare
Under-seat bag 40×30×20 cm Must fit under the seat ✅ Free on every fare
Hold bag No published size limit 22kg per bag 💷 Paid on flight-only, 22kg included with Jet2holidays
Heaviest single item — 32kg Anything heavier won't be accepted
Jet2.com vs Jet2holidays: If you book a package holiday with Jet2holidays, a 22kg hold baggage allowance per person is included. If you book a flight-only ticket on Jet2.com, the cabin bag and under-seat bag are included, but you'll need to add hold luggage separately.

02 — Jet2 Hand Luggage Rules

This is where Jet2 really stands out. While many budget airlines now charge for anything bigger than an under-seat bag, Jet2 still includes a full-size cabin bag on every fare, plus a small personal item.

Included

Cabin Bag

  • Max size: 56×45×25 cm
  • Includes wheels and handles
  • Max weight: 10kg
  • One per passenger (infants excluded)
  • Goes in the overhead locker
Best for: your main bag on short breaks, or essentials alongside a hold bag
Also Included

Under-Seat Bag

  • Max size: 40×30×20 cm
  • Handbag, laptop bag or small holdall
  • Must fit under the seat in front
  • Carried alongside your cabin bag
  • Ideal for passports, tech and snacks
Best for: valuables, documents and in-flight essentials

The important detail is that the 56×45×25 cm limit includes wheels and handles. Some suitcases sold as "cabin size" quote body measurements only, so they end up over the limit at the gate. Aerolite's 56×45×25 cm cabin bags are designed to Jet2's maximum allowance, so you get every centimetre you're entitled to.

03 — Jet2 Checked (Hold) Baggage Allowance

Jet2's hold baggage rules are simple. Everything is based on 22kg bags.

22kg

Per Hold Bag

Each hold bag has a 22kg allowance. Jet2holidays packages include one 22kg allowance per person, and flight-only passengers add it when booking.

Up to 3

Bags Per Person

You can add up to three 22kg hold bags per person, per flight, on Jet2.com. On Jet2holidays, you can add up to two extra bags on top of the included allowance.

32kg

Absolute Maximum

No single item of baggage can weigh more than 32kg, even if you've paid for extra weight. Anything heavier won't be accepted.

Hold bag size: Jet2 doesn't publish a maximum size for hold bags, so in practice the weight limit is what matters. A large 28" suitcase can easily go over 22kg once it's packed, so a lightweight case leaves more of your allowance for your belongings.

Infants under two: Infants don't get their own hold allowance, but an extra 10kg is added free to an accompanying adult's 22kg allowance for each infant-and-adult pairing. Infants also don't get their own 10kg cabin bag.

Child equipment: Children and infants can take up to two items free of charge, such as a collapsible pushchair, car seat or booster seat, baby carrier or travel cot. Each item must weigh 32kg or less, and pushchairs can be used right up to the aircraft steps or airbridge.

Sports equipment: Bikes (up to 32kg) and golf bags (up to 22kg) can be added online for an extra charge. For other sports equipment, contact Jet2 before you travel.

04 — Jet2 Extra Baggage Fees

Jet2's baggage fees vary by route and travel date, but the rule is simple: book online and in advance. Leaving it until the airport is the expensive option.

Fee Typical Cost How to Save
22kg hold bag (online) Roughly £10–£45 each way, depending on route and date Add it when you book your flight
22kg hold bag (at the airport) Significantly more than online Always pre-book. Never pay at the desk
Excess baggage £12 per kg over your allowance Weigh your bag at home before you leave
Guaranteed Cabin Luggage £6.50 per flight (reported July 2026) Only worth it if keeping your bag on board matters
Bikes & golf bags Extra charge, varies by route Add online in advance
The £12 per kg trap: Just 3kg over your 22kg allowance costs £36. That's often more than a new luggage scale or a lightweight suitcase. Excess baggage is also carried subject to availability, so on a full flight it may not go at all.

06 — Packing Tips for Jet2 Flights

Jet2's allowance is generous, but it's easy to go over. Here's how to make the most of it without paying extra at the airport.

01

Weigh Everything at Home

A digital luggage scale takes seconds to use and can save you £12 per kilo. Check your 10kg cabin bag as well as your hold bag, because Jet2 can weigh both.

02

Start With a Light Case

Your suitcase counts towards your weight limit. A lightweight cabin case leaves 7kg or more for clothes, while a heavy one might leave less than 6kg.

03

Use Both Free Bags

Your under-seat bag is extra free space. Put heavy items like your laptop, chargers and books in it to free up weight in your 10kg cabin bag.

04

Power Banks in Hand Luggage Only

Power banks, e-cigarettes and spare lithium batteries must travel in your hand luggage, never in the hold. Check Jet2's current rules on using them on board.

05

Check the Liquids Rules

Liquid limits for hand luggage depend on the security scanners at your departure airport, so check your airport's latest guidance before packing toiletries.

06

Leave Room for the Return Trip

Souvenirs, duty free and that extra bottle of sun cream all add weight. Aim to fly out 2–3kg under your limit so you're not repacking at the check-in desk on the way home.

Golden rule: Pre-book any hold bags online, weigh everything at home, and make sure your cabin bag measures 56×45×25 cm including the wheels. Do those three things and you won't pay a penny extra at the airport.

This guide reflects Jet2's published baggage rules as of November 2026. Airline policies and fees can change, so always check your booking and jet2.com before you travel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Jet2's baggage policy, answered.

What is Jet2's hand luggage allowance in 2026?

Every Jet2 passenger, excluding infants, can take one cabin bag of up to 10kg measuring no more than 56×45×25 cm including wheels and handles, plus one small under-seat bag of up to 40×30×20 cm. Both are included in the fare. On busy flights, Jet2 may place some cabin bags in the hold unless you've added Guaranteed Cabin Luggage.

Does Jet2 include a free personal item?

Yes. As well as the 10kg cabin bag, Jet2 allows one small under-seat bag, such as a handbag, laptop bag or small holdall, of up to 40×30×20 cm. It must fit under the seat in front of you. Aerolite's 40×30×20 cm Cabin Bags collection of holdalls, backpacks and trolley backpacks is built to this exact maximum.

What size cabin bag can I take on Jet2?

Jet2's maximum cabin bag size is 56×45×25 cm, and that includes wheels and handles. The Aerolite 56×45×25 cm Hard Shell Cabin Suitcase is built to this exact maximum, giving you 56.25L of space at just 3.12kg. The same size also works for British Airways and Easyjet's larger cabin bag options.

How much hold luggage do you get with Jet2?

Jet2holidays package holidays include a 22kg hold baggage allowance per person, excluding infants. Flight-only bookings on Jet2.com don't include hold luggage, but you can add up to three 22kg bags per person, per flight. No single item can weigh more than 32kg.

How much does Jet2 charge for excess baggage?

Jet2 charges £12 per kg for baggage over your allowance, and excess baggage is carried subject to availability. Hold bags are much cheaper when added online in advance than at the airport. Weighing your luggage at home before you travel is the easiest way to avoid excess charges.

Is there a size limit for Jet2 hold luggage?

Jet2 doesn't publish a maximum size for standard hold bags. The limits are weight-based: 22kg per hold bag, with no single item allowed to exceed 32kg. Because weight is what counts, a lightweight suitcase such as the Aerolite 24" Medium Suitcase at 3.31kg leaves more of your allowance for your belongings.

What baggage do infants get on Jet2?

Infants under two don't receive their own cabin or hold baggage allowance. Instead, an extra 10kg is added free of charge to an accompanying adult's 22kg hold allowance for each infant-and-adult pairing. Children and infants can also take up to two items of child equipment free, such as a collapsible pushchair, car seat, baby carrier or travel cot, each weighing up to 32kg.

Can I take a power bank on a Jet2 flight?

Yes, but power banks, e-cigarettes and spare lithium batteries must be carried in your hand luggage, never in hold baggage. Airline rules on using and charging power banks on board have tightened in 2026, so check Jet2's latest guidance before you fly.
